Pacing yourself. How good are you at this?
One of the biggest challenges I see with huge goals is our ability to pace ourselves.
Taking the time to pause, reflect, and recharge before going again.
Two of the ventures I’m involved in are tackling big challenges.
One is around improving indoor air quality. The other is using technology to create at-scale solutions to tackle the massive mental health challenges we face in the world.
Both have been making real progress this year.
As with all challenges, there have been headwinds and in both cases, the world-class teams driving those businesses have been persistent and day by day are working to solve the hard problems
Both teams are very good at being able to shuttle between the big picture and where they need to go, and then back to the micro detail of the day, what needs to be done to make immediate progress.
Remembering that every big challenge is a marathon and not a sprint is a tool that I find essential.
And that to achieve the marathon it’s essential at times to switch off and recharge.
