It’s when we are challenged to stop and think, that so often can create new insights.
I had such an example yesterday.
Presenting to a senior audience in a hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva, the focus was on the execution excellence needed to achieve Big Bold Goals.
I shared my insights and research into the discipline into how one might lead oneself to do this.
It got to Q&A and I was challenged on the notion of if there is too much discipline, then where is the space for creativity and spontaneity?
It was a great question.
As I reflected, by creating structure and discipline to put yourself in the best place possible, you free up mental space to allow time for creativity and spontaneity.
It’s precisely because you are disciplined that you have the space to connect up previously unconnected ideas.
We only have so much mental processing power.
If we can free up more of that time by making sure we are in the best place possible, surely that is the single best way to allow in fresh thinking, spontaneity and creativity?
What works best for you to unleash your creativity?
Patent Approved…
Speaking of unleashing creativity, I’m absolutely thrilled this week that one of the Big Bold Ventures that I’m involved in has been granted their first patent.
Pathogen Reduction Systems is on a mission to improve Indoor Air Quality.
They are a team with curious minds united by making a difference to the world which drives incredible levels of creativity.
Take their core premise….
How often do you think about the air you breathe into your lungs?
There’s a difference between good quality and poor quality air and that has a meaningful impact on us.
Not only that, it has the potential to substantially reduce energy costs by transforming the way air is processed inside buildings and enclosed spaces.
